Carlos Alcaraz is in a prime position to capture the prestigious ATP Year-End No. 1 title presented by PIF for the second time after his triumph at the US Open.

Not only did Alcaraz lift the coveted trophy at Flushing Meadows, but he also regained the top position in the PIF ATP Rankings, extending his lead in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin—an essential benchmark for the year-end No. 1 showdown.

Alcaraz boasts an impressive 2,590-point cushion over his closest contender, Jannik Sinner, with no other player within 6,000 points of the Spanish champion.

The US Open final presented a critical chance for Sinner to narrow the gap, potentially creating an electrifying race for the year-end title. A victory for Sinner would have resulted in a key 1,400-point shift in his favor.

As it stands, Alcaraz is well-positioned for the remaining ATP Masters 1000 events in Shanghai and Paris, along with the Nitto ATP Finals, scheduled for later this year. He first achieved the year-end No. 1 ranking in 2022.

A select group of only 10 players have ever secured the year-end No. 1 title more than once, and Alcaraz aims to join Rafael Nadal (5) as the second Spaniard to reach this milestone. Currently, Alcaraz and Sinner are the sole singles players who have qualified for the upcoming Nitto ATP Finals.

Ben Shelton, in fifth place, and Lorenzo Musetti, ranked eighth, are vying for their first appearances at the season finale. Musetti is just 80 points ahead of ninth-placed Jack Draper, who announced he will not compete for the rest of the season due to an arm injury.

Following closely is Felix Auger-Aliassime, currently in 10th place, trailing Musetti by 365 points. The Canadian recently achieved his best result of the year by reaching the US Open semi-finals and has historically performed well post-major tournaments. He previously competed in the Nitto ATP Finals in 2022.
