Lorenzo Musetti
is taking pride in the exceptional level of tennis he displayed, culminating in his debut at a Masters 1000 final this weekend in Monte-Carlo. Despite celebrating this achievement and recording his first back-to-back victories against Top 10 players at the same tour, he remains focused on the road ahead.

After facing a physically challenging match that ended with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 defeat to Carlos Alcaraz, Musetti reflected on his aspirations, notably his ambition to break into the Top 10.

The Italian star is set to climb to a career-high ranking of No. 11 when the new rankings are released, but he has his eyes set on even greater heights.

“I’m taking away a lot of positives,” Musetti shared with the media. “I’ve accomplished some of my goals already. However, I’m setting my sights on new challenges, striving to stay ambitious as I work towards entering the Top 10.”

“That’s essentially the primary ambition for this season. We’re close, so let’s keep pushing and keep dreaming.”

Skipping Barcelona

Musetti has opted to withdraw from next week’s Barcelona Open due to his injury but anticipates participating in both Madrid and Rome ahead of the French Open.

“I’m going to take a week off from competition and skip Barcelona, but I’m looking forward to playing in Madrid. I’m hopeful to be at full strength by then,” he said.

The status of his injury remains uncertain, as he noted, “We’re still assessing things, but definitely, we’ll conduct some tests in the coming days. As you probably noticed, I wasn’t able to finish the match as I had hoped, but in a final like that, I didn’t want to retire.”
