Ben Shelton is making waves both on the tennis court and off, showcasing his versatility by stepping into the role of interviewer.

Just two weeks ago at the US Open, the 22-year-old American found himself on the receiving end of some playful banter when his girlfriend, football sensation Trinity Rodman, quipped about his serve speed during a press conference.

This Sunday, it was Shelton’s turn to shine as a reporter. Following Rodman’s fabulous two-goal performance that led the Washington Spirit to a 2-0 victory over Seattle Reign in the National Women’s Soccer League, Shelton took the mic.

“First off, amazing game, Trin! I’ve got a few questions for you,” Shelton playfully asked Rodman, who burst into laughter. “Those were two fantastic combo goals. Can you share some insights into your synergy with Croix Bethune? It’s fascinating to watch you two work together.”

Rodman provided an insightful answer, but Shelton couldn’t resist poking fun at her earlier comment from the US Open: “I’ll keep it positive this time,” he joked, referencing her prior tease about his serve speed.

It's All Adding Up

Since publicly announcing their relationship in March, Rodman has been a consistent presence at Shelton’s tournaments—including Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

Currently nursing a shoulder injury that led to his retirement in the third round in New York, the No. 6 player in the PIF ATP Rankings is returning the favor by cheering for Rodman at her NWSL matches and even seizing the mic when the moment calls for it.
