In a recent announcement on Saturday, Tennis Canada revealed that Felix Auger-Aliassime will not be participating in the forthcoming Davis Cup tie, citing fatigue as the reason for his withdrawal.
The highly anticipated World Group I tie is scheduled to take place in Halifax on September 12-13.
The Montreal star just wrapped up a strong performance at the U.S. Open, where he advanced to the semifinals as the 25th seed.
Unfortunately, Auger-Aliassime was defeated by the world No. 1, Jannik Sinner of Italy, in a closely contested four-set match.
This marks Auger-Aliassime’s second journey to the semifinals of a Grand Slam, his first occurrence being at the U.S. Open in 2021.
During his impressive run, the 25-year-old triumphed over third-seeded Alexander Zverev, 15th seed Andrey Rublev, and eighth-seeded Alex de Minaur before facing Sinner in the semifinals.
