With tenacity, Auger-Aliassime broke Borges’ serve during a critical moment in the third set, finishing the match with an impressive ninth ace.

Ranked No. 21 in the world, Auger-Aliassime converted three out of his ten break opportunities while successfully fending off four of six break points against him.

This match marked Auger-Aliassime’s inaugural clash with the ATP Tour’s 38th-ranked player, Borges.

Next up for the talented 24-year-old Canadian is a challenging encounter with Croatia’s Marin Cilic, who advanced by overcoming Australia’s Alexei Popyrin with a scoreline of 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.

Auger-Aliassime is on a quest for his third ATP title this season, having already claimed victories in Adelaide, Australia, and Montpellier, France last month.
