LONDON — In a significant move, Argentine tennis athlete Facundo Bagnis has opted for a voluntary provisional suspension following a positive test for a substance classified as a diuretic and masking agent, as reported by the International Tennis Integrity Agency on Thursday.

The 35-year-old Bagnis faced this challenge during his qualifying matches at the U.S. Open in August, where he suffered his sixth consecutive loss in Grand Slam qualifiers.

He previously reached a career peak of No. 55 in the ATP rankings back in 2016, showcasing his talent on the global stage.

After being informed of the test results earlier this month, Bagnis decided to initiate his provisional suspension last week. Should a ban follow, this period will be credited as time already served.
