In a remarkable turnaround, Alexander Blockx has surged up the PIF ATP Rankings following a standout performance at the Mutua Madrid Open. Alongside Blockx, his fellow semi-finalist Arthur Fils also made headlines with his impressive run that concluded at the hands of eventual champion Jannik Sinner.

Here’s a closer look at the movers in the PIF ATP Rankings as of Monday, May 4.

No. 36 Alexander Blockx, +33 (Career High)
At just 21 years old, Belgian rising star Blockx entered April without a single ATP Tour victory on clay. However, his fortunes changed dramatically as he not only reached the final four in Madrid but also followed up a strong showing in Monte-Carlo. Blockx dispatched four seeded players on his way to his first tour-level semi-final, including wins over World No. 5 Felix Auger-Aliassime and the reigning 2025 champion, Casper Ruud.

No. 17 Arthur Fils, +8
After a lengthy recovery from a back injury, Frenchman Fils made an instant impact upon his return in February. His stellar form continued in Madrid, where he extended his winning streak to nine matches following victories against Ignacio Buse, Emilio Nava, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, and Jiri Lehecka. Though Sinner brought his semi-final run to a halt, Fils is back in the Top 20 for the first time since September.

No. 34 Rafael Jodar, +8 (Career High)
At just 19 years of age, Jodar has emerged as one of 2026’s breakout talents, successfully navigating to his first Masters 1000 quarter-final in his hometown. The Next Gen ATP Finals competitor demonstrated his caliber by defeating Alex de Minaur for his initial Top-10 victory and also overcame fellow teenager Joao Fonseca in a thrilling third-round encounter. Jodar, once outside the Top 900 last April, now revels in a career-high No. 34.

No. 35 Alejandro Tabilo, +8
Former Top-20 sensation Tabilo faced challenges in 2026 but found his rhythm to clinch victory at the Open Aix Provence Crédit Agricole, an ATP Challenger 175 event in France. Competing against a field filled with tough competitors, including three other Top 50 players, Tabilo emerged victorious in a tightly contested final against Zizou Bergs.

No. 53 Hubert Hurkacz, +10
Once ranked as high as World No. 6, Hurkacz had a tough time in 2025 due to knee surgery. Nevertheless, he has been climbing back up the rankings after reaching the finals at another ATP Challenger 175, the Sardegna Open in Cagliari. Hurkacz overcame Matteo Berrettini in a thrilling three-set battle before falling to local hero Matteo Arnaldi in the championship match.
