Despite their impressive trophy collections, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have yet to seize the coveted Rolex Paris Masters title. This year presents a significant opportunity for these leading competitors in the PIF ATP Rankings.
Returning champion Alexander Zverev also aims to defend his title, alongside Taylor Fritz, who is among a host of players striving for a spot in the Nitto ATP Finals.
Here at ATPTour.com, we highlight ten compelling storylines to follow in Paris, where the tournament is set to embark on a new chapter at La Défense Arena, Europe’s largest indoor sporting venue.
1) Alcaraz Sets Sights on First Paris Triumph: Fresh off his victory in Tokyo, Alcaraz is eager to add the Rolex Paris Masters to his illustrious list of achievements. This prestigious indoor event is one of only three ATP Masters 1000 titles still absent from his legacy (alongside Canada and Shanghai). Currently leading the tour with 67 match wins and eight titles in 2025, Alcaraz also aims to bolster his quest for a second ATP Year-End No. 1 finish presented by PIF.
2) Sinner Aims to Rewrite His Paris Story: With only one win in his three prior appearances at this venue, Sinner is determined to change his narrative in the French capital. Historically, in the last five tournaments featuring both him and Alcaraz, they have battled it out in the finals, a sequence that many fans hope will continue in Paris. Their first encounter in 2021 saw Alcaraz claim victory, but Sinner is riding high after a promising run in Vienna.
3) Zverev’s Quest for a Title Repeat: Reflecting on last year’s competition, Zverev claimed the Paris title with remarkable ease, losing just one set in five matches, four of which were against Top 20 players. Already secured a place in the Nitto ATP Finals for an eighth consecutive time, he is vying for his eighth Masters 1000 title as he faces Sinner in the Vienna final.
4) American Duo Fritz and Shelton Lead the Charge: Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton occupy the Top 5 seeds in Paris. The seasoned Fritz, with 51 match wins this year, is just two victories shy of matching his career-best numbers from two previous seasons. After finishing as runner-up at the Nitto ATP Finals last year, he aims for another trip to Turin. Shelton, eagerly looking to secure his first qualification for Turin, could find himself up against Sinner in the quarter-finals.
5) The Race to Turin Heats Up: With the Nitto ATP Finals approaching, the Rolex Paris Masters becomes pivotal for those vying for spots in Turin. Lorenzo Musetti, holding the eighth qualifying position with 3,685 points, is closely followed by Alex de Minaur at 3,745. Felix Auger-Aliassime, who reached the Paris semi-finals last year, is 440 points behind Musetti and must aim for a deep run to keep his Turin hopes alive. He faces a qualifier in his opening match.
6) Medvedev Poised for a Comeback: Daniil Medvedev, a former World No. 1, has revamped his approach with a new coaching duo and is back in the groove after a lengthy title drought. Following his semi-final appearance in Shanghai, he claimed victory in Almaty, and with just one win needed to hit 40 for the season, he is a player to watch. Notably, Medvedev won Paris in 2020 and returned to the final the following year.

7) Dimitrov’s Comeback Story: Grigor Dimitrov had a challenging season, suffering a pectoral muscle tear at Wimbledon while leading against Sinner. After being sidelined for over three months, Dimitrov is ready to return, facing local favourite Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round. Read more about Dimitrov’s inspiring comeback here.
8) Wild Card Wonder Vacherot: Valentin Vacherot made history at the recent ATP Masters 1000 event in Shanghai, becoming the lowest-ranked champion since 1990 after an extraordinary run to victory against his cousin Arthur Rinderknech. Now, he will be joined in the main draw by wild cards Rinderknech, Arthur Cazaux, and Terence Atmane. If both Vacherot and Rinderknech win their opening matches, an exciting family showdown awaits in the second round.
9) Rising Stars of #NextGenATP: Joao Fonseca, last year’s Next Gen ATP Finals champion, will make his debut at the Rolex Paris Masters as the youngest player in the draw, facing Denis Shapovalov. Learner Tien, preparing for a return to Jeddah in December, is also in this line-up.
10) Arevalo/Pavic Take the Lead in Doubles: Top seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic headline the doubles competition, also showcasing Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, the leading duo in the PIF ATP Doubles Teams Rankings. Arevalo and Pavic have claimed victory in three of this year’s eight ATP Masters 1000 events (Indian Wells, Miami, and Rome), while Cash and Glasspool have secured six team titles in 2025.
