Alexander Zverev is set to vie for a sensational triple crown in Munich this weekend.
The tournament’s top seed, Zverev, showcased his dominance by firing off nine aces in a decisive 7-6(3), 6-3 victory over Fabian Marozsan, propelling him into his third final at the BMW Open.
Zverev, a two-time champion at this event, is making his first final appearance here since 2018.
This will be his first final since facing off against world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open championship match this past January.
The world No. 3 Zverev will be competing for his 24th professional title and his first since clinching the Paris Masters last November, with American Ben Shelton standing in his way.
Earlier in the day, second-seeded Ben Shelton triumphed over Francisco Cerundolo with a score of 2-6, 7-6(7), 6-4, marking his entry into the fourth ATP final of his career at the Munich Open.
As the 2024 Houston champion, Shelton has etched his name in history as the first American man to compete in an ATP clay-court final above the 250 level since Andre Agassi claimed the 2022 Rome title.
