As the downpour subsided, Victoria Mboko seized the moment in her Miami Open debut.

The 10th-seeded Canadian dominated world No. 92 Anna Blinkova from Russia, delivering a commanding 6-2, 6-0 victory in just 59 minutes of action during the second round on Friday.

The tournament has faced significant weather disruptions, with Mboko’s match encountering a late start and a brief rain delay.

Having received a first-round bye as a seeded competitor, Mboko is set to clash with the victor of the all-Russian showdown between No. 22 seed Anna Kalinskaya and Anastasia Zakharova.

At just 19 years old, Mboko is off to a stellar start in 2026, bouncing back from a quarterfinal exit against Aryna Sabalenka at Indian Wells and adding two finals appearances to her record.

Later on Friday, Canada’s Gabriel Diallo and Leylah Fernandez are also slated to take the court in Miami.
