In a hard-fought battle at the Miami Open, Canada’s Denis Shapovalov fell to Botic van de Zandschulp from the Netherlands, with a final score of 7-5, 6-3.

The talented player from Richmond Hill, Ontario, valiantly fought off four match points, but ultimately succumbed after an intense one hour and 31 minutes on the court.

Later that day, qualifier Liam Draxl from Newmarket, Ontario, was set to face Quentin Halys from France at the iconic Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Also making waves in the main draw of the prestigious Masters 1000 tournament are Montreal’s own Felix Auger-Aliassime and Gabriel Diallo.
