Elena Rybakina embarks on her quest to defend her Abu Dhabi title this week, now with a fresh coaching perspective.

Currently ranked No. 5 in the world, Rybakina welcomes seasoned Italian coach Davide Sanguinetti to her team.

The accomplished Sanguinetti, 52, has previously guided tennis stars like Dinara Safina, Vince Spadea, and Brandon Nakashima.

This transition follows a recent split between Rybakina and her former coach, Goran Ivanisevic, just after she opted to reintroduce her long-standing coach, Stefano Vukov, into her roster. Unfortunately, Vukov has yet to receive WTA coaching credentials due to an ongoing suspension related to code of conduct violations.

The Wimbledon champion has voiced her frustration regarding the WTA’s management of Vukov’s situation, stating, “I don’t know much. It’s a situation I’m not happy with. But it is what it is for now.” She emphasized the importance of safeguarding measures but criticized the handling of her team’s case.

Once a standout performer at UCLA, Sanguinetti notably triumphed over a youthful Roger Federer in the 2002 Milan final and also clinched victory against Andy Roddick in the Delray Beach Open final.

A former Wimbledon quarterfinalist, Sanguinetti boasts impressive career wins over luminaries such as David Nalbandian and Yevgeny Kafelnikov.
