Djokovic’s Journey in Indian Wells: Reached Fourth Round
Reported by ATP Staff
In a disappointing turn of events, Novak Djokovic has officially pulled out of the Miami Open presented by Itau, citing a right shoulder injury, as announced by the tournament organizers on Sunday.
The Serbian tennis legend recently competed at Indian Wells, where he advanced to the fourth round in singles and paired with Stefanos Tsitsipas in the doubles, reaching the second round. After finishing as a finalist at the Australian Open earlier this year, Djokovic’s current singles record stands at 7 wins and 2 losses this season, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.
At 38 years old, Djokovic is a decorated six-time champion at the Miami Open, having reached the finals last year before being edged out by Jakub Mensik.
Holding the all-time record for most ATP Masters 1000 titles with 40, Djokovic boasts an impressive tally of 101 overall tour-level titles, with his latest victory coming last November in Athens.
The Miami Open presented by Itau is set to kick off its main draw on Wednesday, with qualifying rounds beginning Monday.
