NEW YORK — Nick Kyrgios has officially announced his withdrawal from the US Open, marking the third consecutive year he will miss this prestigious Grand Slam event.

The Australian star has faced a series of injuries over the past few years, recently missing the majority of both the 2023 and 2024 seasons. After undergoing surgeries on his wrist and knee, he attempted a comeback at this year’s Australian Open but fell in the first round, which was his first major appearance since the 2022 US Open.

Prior to his injury struggles, Kyrgios delivered an impressive performance at Wimbledon, where he reached the finals before being defeated by Novak Djokovic.

Once a top-15 player, ranked as high as No. 13, Kyrgios has participated in only five singles matches on the ATP Tour this season, with his last match dating back to March in Miami.

His spot in the tournament will be filled by a player who falls short in the later stages of qualifying.
