Get ready, because Eugenie Bouchard is back on the court!
At 31 years old, the Canadian tennis star has emerged as a captivating storyline at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers. On Monday evening, Bouchard — announcing that this tournament will mark the final chapter of her professional career — triumphed over Colombia’s Emiliana Arango in a thrilling three-set match.
On Wednesday, eyes will be glued to Centre Court as Bouchard faces off against Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT at Montreal’s IGA Stadium. Bencic is currently ranked 20th in the world and recently made waves with a semifinal finish at Wimbledon.
Whether she’s soaking in the crowd’s applause after a match or gearing up for another challenge, Bouchard is sure to be the highlight of the day at the NBO.
But the excitement doesn’t end there; there are plenty of matches to keep an eye on in Montreal and Toronto as the tournament unfolds.
Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime is set to return to the court for his first match since a Round of 64 exit at Wimbledon, facing Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Centre Court at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto.
Ranked 21st at the NBO, Auger-Aliassime is the highest-seeded Canadian in the men’s draw, sitting at No. 28 worldwide. This will be the inaugural clash between the 24-year-old star and the 25-year-old Marozsan, currently ranked 56th globally.
New Faces: Diallo and Galarneau’s Moment
Gabriel Diallo has been making headlines in Canadian men’s tennis throughout 2025. After winning matches at all three Grand Slams this year, he now shifts his focus to the NBO, ranked 36th in the world.
This 6-foot-8, 23-year-old talent will take on Italy’s Matteo Gigante in their first-ever showdown on Centre Court during the afternoon session. Gigante holds a world ranking of 125th.
If Diallo is enjoying a stellar season, Alexis Galarneau is now in a position to create some excitement of his own at the NBO. After receiving a wild-card entry, Galarneau scored a remarkable straight-sets victory over Arther Rinderknech late Monday, marking his debut win in the main draw of a tour-level event.
The 26-year-old from Laval, Quebec, will be riding high if he can secure another win on Wednesday afternoon against the world’s 17th-ranked Flavio Cobolli from Italy.
The women’s doubles action kicks off in Montreal on Wednesday, showcasing several Canadian pairs.
The Fernandez sisters, Leylah and Bianca, will go head-to-head with the top-ranked duo of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, while fellow Canadians Kayla Cross and Victoria Mboko will face off against Hao-Ching Chan and Xinyu Jiang.
Meanwhile, Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and her partner, Kiwi Erin Routliffe, are set to take on Americans Caroline Dolehide and Sofia Kenin. Dabrowski and Routliffe are the second seeds in the doubles draw.
