Daniil Medvedev is making a strategic drop to elevate his game.
Making his return to ATP-250 events for the first time since 2023, Medvedev triumphed over French qualifier Pierre-Hugues Herbert with a straight-sets victory of 6-2, 6-4, securing a place in the Marseille quarterfinals for a remarkable fourth time.

The top seed, Medvedev, aims to clinch his first title since winning in Rome back in 2023.
As the reigning champion of Marseille, he has the opportunity to become the first player to secure the title twice, having won all 20 of his titles at unique tournaments.
Next up on Medvedev’s path is Jan-Lennard Struff.
World No. 46 Struff overcame French qualifier Hugo Grenier in a thrilling battle, finishing the match 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
In another exciting match, China’s Zhizhen Zhang defeated fourth-seeded Hubert Hurkacz with scores of 6-4, 6-7(1), 6-3. Zhang aced the match with 10 serves and successfully defended all three break points he encountered during his two-hour and eight-minute victory.
