Can the remarkable Canadian teen, Victoria Mboko, keep her sensational journey alive? We’re about to witness the next chapter.

Just two nights after her stunning triumph over world No. 2 and top-seed Coco Gauff at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers, the 18-year-old from Burlington, Ont., is ready for a quarter-final clash against Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, currently ranked No. 51 in the world. This thrilling matchup will be the second on the agenda in Montreal, following the first match set to begin at 6 p.m. ET.

As the last Canadian representative in her home tournament, Mboko is making headlines as the sole Canadian to reach the fourth round after defeating Gauff in straight sets—a true milestone in her budding career. Beginning the year at rank 337, she has since secured four consecutive victories on the ITF Challenger Tour, made her Grand Slam debut at the French Open, and celebrated wins at both the French Open and Wimbledon.

Now, the world No. 85 is orchestrating surprise after surprise on familiar grounds in a Masters 1000 event, with hopes to extend her winning streak against Bouzas Maneiro, who has secured one WTA 125 title and notably defeated No. 9 Emma Navarro at the French Open earlier this season.

Mboko is riding high after her victory over the world No. 2 before a packed crowd in her homeland, and her success in Montreal could soon propel her into the top 50 rankings. As she expressed to Sportsnet before the NBO commenced: “A couple of months ago, I would have never thought I would be here.”

And now, she stands on the brink of glory, just three matches away from clinching a Canadian Open title.
