The dynamic duo from Canada, Leylah Fernandez and Felix Auger-Aliassime, are staying put in Florida for a thrilling continuation of the Miami Open.
Both hailing from Montreal, they secured commendable wins on Saturday, propelling themselves further in the tournament.
Fernandez advanced to the third round after a gripping match against Russia’s Oksana Selekhmeteva, clinching the victory with scores of 7-6 (1), 3-6, 6-1.
This 23-year-old tennis sensation unleashed three powerful aces and converted five out of ten break-point chances during her match.
Seeded 26th, Fernandez is set to face off against fifth-seeded American star Jessica Pegula in her next match.
On the other side, Auger-Aliassime sailed through his match against Hungary’s Marton Fuscovics, winning in straight sets with a scoreline of 7-6 (3), 7-5, to move on to the fourth round.
Ranked seventh, Auger-Aliassime showcased his strength with six aces and just one double fault, successfully converting four out of six break points.
Next up for him is a showdown with unseeded French player Terence Atmane.
Later on Saturday, fellow Canadians Victoria Mboko and Gabriel Diallo will also take to the court, adding to the excitement.
