Despite already being ousted from contention, Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz rallied to secure a victory in their final round-robin matchup at the Nitto ATP Finals. They triumphed over Italian pair Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori with a scoreline of 7-6(5), 4-6, 13-11, saving one match point in the process.

The defending champions entered this match having lost their first two encounters in the Peter Fleming group, while Bolelli and Vavassori had already secured their spot at the top, independent of this match’s outcome.

Even without qualification stakes, the sixth and seventh seeds delivered an engaging encounter at the Inalpi Arena. Krawietz and Puetz displayed great resilience, saving a match point at 9/10 during the Match Tie-break before finally clinching victory after nearly two hours of play.

The duo wraps up their season with an impressive 42-18 win-loss record, boasting titles from both Shanghai and Halle. Though they finished 1-2 this week in Turin, they shone brightly as the reigning champions from last year.

Bolelli and Vavassori will now advance to the semi-finals on Saturday. They will be joined by the winner from tonight’s doubles showdown featuring Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool against Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
