Jannik Sinner effortlessly transitioned from the Indian Wells tournament to the Miami Open presented by Itau at Hard Rock Stadium this Saturday.

Starting his Miami title quest just six days after securing his first trophy of 2026 at the BNP Paribas Open, Sinner swiftly overpowered Damir Dzumhur with a score of 6-3, 6-3. As the No. 2 player in the PIF ATP Rankings, Sinner is on the verge of making history by becoming the first man since Roger Federer in 2017 to accomplish the ‘Sunshine Double.’ Impressively, he dropped only eight points on his serve, according to Infosys ATP Stats.

Now on a stunning 12-match winning streak at ATP Masters 1000 events following his victories at the Rolex Paris Masters in November and Indian Wells, Sinner has matched Novak Djokovic’s record for the most consecutive sets won at this level (24). He has the opportunity to surpass this milestone during the first set of his third-round matchup against either 30th seed Corentin Moutet or Tomas Machac.

“The scoreboard does hold significance at times,” Sinner shared when asked about his consecutive Masters 1000 straight-sets victories. “My main focus is on consistent improvement and giving my best effort against every opponent. I strive to bring a positive attitude and play aggressively.”

Aiming for his second title in Miami, where he celebrated victory in 2024, Sinner has no PIF ATP Rankings points to defend in South Florida, positioning him to gain even more momentum in his tight race with Carlos Alcaraz for the World No. 1 spot.

Demonstrating top-notch serving skills while dominating World No. 76 Dzumhur in their inaugural Lexus ATP Head2Head clash, Sinner also excelled at the net throughout the 71-minute match, winning an impressive 14 out of 17 points when approaching the net.

“For me, mastering the transition game is essential. It’s an area we’ve worked hard to improve,” Sinner stated. “It can vary from day to day. Today, I started strong with an early break, which allowed me to be more aggressive.”

“At times it was highly effective, while I did have a couple of unforced errors. But, given the quick transition with no much time to adjust, I’m pleased with how it turned out. First-round matches are always challenging, and I’m satisfied to come through.”
