Excitement builds as Holger Rune announces his intent to return at the Bitpanda Hamburg Open in May. The Danish player shared the news via his social media platforms on Thursday, confirming his participation in the prestigious ATP 500 clay tournament.
After suffering an Achilles injury in Stockholm last October, the 22-year-old Rune is poised to make his comeback. He remains on the entry list for the ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome at the beginning of May and looks forward to his third outing in Hamburg, where he notably reached the quarter-finals in 2024.
Before his injury, Rune had a strong 2025 season, finishing with a 36-22 record, highlighted by a spectacular victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the Barcelona final, securing his fifth tour-level title.
The former World No. 4 will grace the Hamburg courts alongside Alexander Zverev and defending champion Flavio Cobolli. Mark your calendars for this exciting event from May 17-23.
