Leylah Fernandez, hailing from Laval, Quebec, and her partner Fanny Stolarz from Hungary, surged into the doubles quarterfinals at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix with an impressive 6-3, 6-2 victory on Monday over the Chinese pair of Jiang Xinyu and Xu Yifan.

The dynamic duo of Fernandez and Stolarz showcased their prowess with three aces, successfully converting three out of their seven break point opportunities in this first-round clash.

In contrast, Jiang and Xu capitalized on their single break point chance during the match.

Next up for Fernandez and Stolarz is a challenge against the winner of the matchup between the German duo Noma Noha Akugue and Ella Seidel, and the fourth-seeded team of Nicole Melichar-Martinez from the United States and Russia’s Liudmila Samsonova at this WTA 500 clay-court tournament.

This marks the inaugural partnership for Fernandez and Stolarz in Stuttgart.

Earlier this season, Fernandez has teamed up with tennis legends such as Venus Williams, Timea Babos, and Kristina Mladenovic.
