The sixth-seeded Auger-Aliassime, having received a first-round bye, now boasts a 4-3 head-to-head advantage against Cilic.
The Montreal native successfully saved two out of five break points during the match.
Next up for Auger-Aliassime is a showdown with the ninth-seeded Casper Ruud from Norway in the round of 16.
