On Thursday, Novak Djokovic notched his 200th indoor match victory at the Vanda Pharmaceuticals Hellenic Championship, defeating Nuno Borges 7-6(1), 6-4, and advancing to the semi-finals in Athens.
The Serbian superstar faced three break-point opportunities in the first set but elevated his game when it mattered most, dominating the tie-break. With a 6–1 lead in the tie-break, he thrilled the fans by rushing courtside to celebrate before sealing the set.
Building on that momentum, Djokovic delivered a polished performance in the second set, wrapping up the match in one hour and 44 minutes during their inaugural Lexus ATP Head2Head clash.
“It was an intense contest. Nuno gave it his all,” Djokovic remarked. “I was impressed by his level of play. We went head-to-head for most of the match, and just a few points determined the outcome. He deserves applause for his effort.”
“I executed a fantastic tie-break in the first set. Break points were rare for both of us. That game was my only chance to break him.”
This week, Djokovic is in pursuit of his 101st tour-level title, having become only the third player to capture 100 trophies when he triumphed in Geneva earlier this year. Jimmy Connors leads with 109 titles, while Roger Federer follows closely with 103.

Djokovic previously bested Alejandro Tabilo in his first match in Athens, finally overcoming the Chilean after two previous attempts. The 38-year-old Serbian has been in exceptional form through his initial matches and is poised ahead of the upcoming Nitto ATP Finals, beginning on Sunday.
The record seven-time year-end champion has been placed in the Jimmy Connors group alongside Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz, and Alex de Minaur.
For now, Djokovic’s attention is on the ATP 250 event in Athens, where he is set to face either Marcos Giron or Yannick Hanfmann in his 199th tour-level semi-final on Friday. Notably, he boasts a perfect 29-0 record after winning the first set in 2025, according to ATP Infosys Stats.
