Reviving his memorable run at the Almaty Open where he reached his inaugural ATP Tour final last season, Gabriel Diallo surged into the new tournament with flair. On Monday, the seventh-seeded Canadian showcased a stellar performance by defeating wild card Amir Omarkhanov with a decisive score of 6-3, 6-1.

In an electrifying display, Diallo dominated with an astounding 93% success rate (25 out of 27) on his first serves, as per Infosys ATP Stats, and he cruised through without encountering a single break point, wrapping up the match in just 62 minutes. Having clinched his first tour-level trophy in ‘s-Hertogenbosch earlier this year, Diallo is determined to secure another title in Almaty, with his next challenge against James Duckworth, who triumphed over Ugo Blanchet 6-3, 6-4.

It All Adds Up

In other highlights from Day 1, Fabian Marozsan overcame Luca Nardi with a scoreline of 7-6(3), 6-3. The No. 52 player in the PIF ATP Rankings displayed resilience after letting a 5-3 lead slip in the first set and now boasts a 3-0 advantage over the Italian in their Lexus ATP Head2Head encounters. With 25 victories under his belt this year, Marozsan has joined the ranks of Balazs Taroczy and Marton Fucsovics as the third Hungarian man to achieve this remarkable feat in a single season.
