While their thrilling rivalry remains untouched in 2026, could the stage be primed for an explosive encounter at the Miami Open presented by Itau?

The top two athletes in the PIF ATP Rankings enjoyed a warm-hearted moment on the practice courts on Tuesday, sharing an embrace as they crossed paths.

Carlos Alcaraz arrives in Florida with his sights set on claiming a second Miami title, having won his inaugural ATP Masters 1000 trophy at this very tournament in 2022. On the other hand, Jannik Sinner is riding high after his victory in Indian Wells, where he edged out Daniil Medvedev, getting just one title away from achieving the illustrious ‘Sunshine Double’.

The talented 24-year-old Italian boasts an impressive 19-3 record in Miami, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, following his successful run at the event in 2024.

A potential showdown between these two titans would most likely occur in the finals. If both players progress, it would mark the 17th chapter in their ever-evolving rivalry, with Alcaraz leading their Lexus ATP Head2Head series 10-6.

After falling to Medvedev in the Indian Wells semi-finals, Alcaraz may face #NextGenATP Brazilian Joao Fonseca in an exhilarating opening match. Meanwhile, Sinner will kick off his tournament against either Ignacio Buse or Damir Dzumhur.

The hard-court ATP Masters 1000 event runs from March 18 to 29 in Miami.
