Canada’s very own Rebecca Marino faced disappointment in the second round of the ASB Classic.

In a hard-fought battle, Bernarda Pera from the United States triumphed over Marino with scores of 7-6 (2), 6-4 on Wednesday in the vibrant city of Auckland, New Zealand.

The 34-year-old from Vancouver made waves by overcoming No. 4 seed Lulu Sun of New Zealand, claiming victory with a scoreline of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in her first-round match on Monday.

Marino celebrated a remarkable achievement last November, clinching her inaugural WTA title at a WTA 125 tournament in Midland, Mich., marking a significant highlight in her career.

In other news, Marina Stakusic from Mississauga, Ontario, also experienced an early exit, falling in the second round of the Canberra International.

Australia’s Taylah Preston managed to bounce back impressively, defeating Stakusic with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
