It was a week full of potential for Bianca Andreescu, yet it concluded without a victory in sight.
In the finale of the Austin 125 in Texas, Andreescu faced off against world No. 124 Lanlala Tararudee from Thailand, ultimately falling short with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
Following a series of injury setbacks that have seen her ranking drop to No. 165, Andreescu has been participating primarily in lower-tier events this year to reclaim her spot in the main draws.
The 125 tournaments represent the most grassroots level of tour competitions.
Despite the loss, this week’s performance is projected to elevate Andreescu to No. 146 in the upcoming rankings.
The 25-year-old athlete was awarded a wild card for the BNP Paribas Masters in Indian Wells, California, but unfortunately exited in the first round.
In 2019, Andreescu reached the impressive height of No. 4 in the world rankings, capturing the U.S. Open and two additional tournament titles.
Looking ahead, Andreescu is set to compete in a qualifying match for the Miami Open this Sunday.
