In an electrifying match on Wednesday, Montreal’s own Félix Auger-Aliassime powered his way into the quarterfinals of the Open Occitanie tennis tournament, defeating France’s Arthur Cazaux with a score of 6-4, 7-6 (5).

As the second seed at this ATP 250 indoor hardcourt event, Auger-Aliassime showcased his formidable skills, blasting 11 aces and handling the first set with ease before securing a thrilling tiebreak victory in the second.

This match marked a significant milestone for Auger-Aliassime, as it represented his 50th indoor hardcourt triumph on the ATP Tour since 2022.

Auger-Aliassime now boasts a flawless 3-0 record against Cazaux, with their previous encounters taking place at last year’s Montpellier event and in the early rounds en route to his recent Adelaide International title.

Looking ahead, the Canadian star is set to face eighth seed Bu Yunchaokete from China in what promises to be an exciting quarterfinal showdown.
