In a thrilling announcement on Tuesday, Tennis Canada has crowned Felix Auger-Aliassime and doubles sensation Gabriela Dabrowski as its Players of the Year.
Montreal’s own Auger-Aliassime, currently ranked No. 29 in the world, clinched the title of Men’s Singles Player of the Year. Meanwhile, Ottawa’s Dabrowski shone brightly, earning recognition as Women’s Doubles Player of the Year.
This dynamic duo showcased their prowess by securing a mixed doubles bronze medal at the Paris Olympics last summer.
Auger-Aliassime made waves in April, reaching his inaugural ATP 1000 final at the Madrid Open. Dabrowski, who holds the impressive rank of third in doubles, triumphed at the Wimbledon doubles final alongside New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe and capped off her season by winning the WTA Finals.
Additionally, Leylah Fernandez from Laval, Quebec, was honored as the Women’s Singles Player of the Year, while Liam Draxl from Newmarket, Ontario, celebrated as the Men’s Doubles Player of the Year.
The prestigious title of Wheelchair Player of the Year was awarded to Rob Shaw from North Bay, Ontario.
