The moment we’ve all been eagerly anticipating has finally arrived — Amanda Anisimova makes her impressive Top-20 debut! On Saturday, she etched her name in the history books as the lowest-ranked champion in Doha’s women’s singles, climbing to the No. 18 spot in the world rankings (+23).

Anisimova Wins WTA Doha, Celebrates Top-20 Debut!

Anisimova showcased her immense talent by defeating five Top-30 contenders in Doha before triumphing over 37th-ranked Jelena Ostapenko in the finals. This victory marks a significant leap from her previous career-high of No. 21.

This is Anisimova’s highest ranking since her remarkable run to the Semifinals at Roland-Garros in 2019.

After a challenging seven-month break in 2023 for mental health reasons, Anisimova has made a stunning resurgence, starting 2024 ranked No. 373 in the world.

With this win, Anisimova secured her third career title. Her opponent, Jelena Ostapenko, experienced a rise as well, leaping 11 spots to reclaim the No. 27 ranking, owing to her first WTA 1000 final appearance in six years.

Notable Climbers: Sramkova / Ngounoue

Slovakia’s Rebecca Sramkova continues her climb, moving up four places to a career-best No. 42 after defeating Mirra Andreeva last week in Doha. The 28-year-old has been on an upward trajectory since her Top-100 debut in 2024.

Meanwhile, American Clervie Ngounoue skyrocketed 37 spots to a personal best of No. 253 after clinching her second ITF W50 title in Birmingham last week. The former junior No. 1 and Wimbledon girls’ champion is set to celebrate her 19th birthday in July.

Ngounoue proudly stands as the seventh-ranked WTA player among her peers aged 18 or younger.
