In an exciting showdown, Bianca Andreescu and Kayla Cross will represent Canada in singles matches during the Billie Jean King Cup qualifying against the host nation, Kazakhstan, this Friday.
Canada will be facing a setback as their top-ranked player, Victoria Mboko, currently the world No. 9, has pulled out of the competition last month.
Cross, who holds a world ranking of No. 198, is set to kick off the singles matches against No. 74 Yulia Putintseva in her debut.
Following her, Andreescu, ranked No. 130, will take on Sonja Zhiyenbayeva, currently ranked No. 1,023.
On Saturday, Ariana Arseneault and Sasha Vagramov are expected to compete in the doubles match.
Additionally, Andreescu is set to face Putintseva later that day. Should the situation arise, Cross will go head-to-head with Zhiyenbayeva in the fifth match.
