Alexander Blockx to Make Next Gen ATP Finals Debut | ATP Tour

Alexander Blockx is all set to showcase his talent at the Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF, marking his debut in this prestigious event. At just 20 years old, he’s poised to become the first Belgian to participate in this elite tournament for players aged 20 and under.

Blockx kicked off his 2025 season with a bang in Portugal, securing an ATP Challenger Tour title in Oeiras—his second triumph in this category. He followed this success by qualifying for the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami and reaching the finals of another Challenger event in Winnipeg.

It All Adds Up

His breakthrough moment came in Cincinnati, where he secured his first victory at an ATP Masters 1000 event by defeating Marcos Giron. As the season wrapped up, Blockx claimed another Challenger Tour title in Bratislava and added a tour-level victory in Metz to his growing résumé.

Starting the year ranked outside the Top 200, Blockx has shown impressive progress, skyrocketing to a career-best No. 101 in the PIF ATP Rankings by November.

Hailing from a family of athletes, Blockx’s roots are unique—his father, Oleg, excelled in hurdles, while his mother, Natalia, was a competitive swimmer. Despite this rich sporting heritage, Blockx has dedicated himself solely to tennis.

With guidance from his long-time coach, Philippe Cassiers, who has been with him since he was four, Blockx hit a significant milestone in 2023 by achieving the junior No. 1 ranking in both singles and doubles.

Mark your calendars: the 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF will take place from December 17-21. Former champions include tennis stars like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
