This Sunday afternoon, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will clash for a priceless double reward at the prestigious Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.
These two incredible rivals, with a storied Lexus ATP Head2Head, will step onto Court Rainier III with the knowledge that the winner will not only take home the title but also ascend to No. 1 in Monday’s PIF ATP Rankings.
Current World No. 1 Alcaraz, the defending champion at Monte-Carlo, has maintained the top position for all but one week since his thrilling victory over Sinner at the US Open last September. Sinner briefly reclaimed the No. 1 spot for that one week ahead of the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals, but now Alcaraz stands shoulder to shoulder with him, both players set to complete an impressive 66 weeks as the world’s best.

If Alcaraz emerges victorious this Sunday and begins his 67th week at World No. 1, he will do so with a 590-point cushion over Sinner in the PIF ATP Rankings. Nonetheless, the Spaniard will still feel the pressure as he faces the daunting task of defending 3,300 points in the upcoming European clay season, commencing at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, where he reached the final last year.
“Honestly, I’m aware that I’ll lose No. 1 at some point,” Alcaraz shared before his first match this week in Monte-Carlo. “I cannot predict if it will happen in this tournament or the next. The points I have to defend are really challenging. Even if I manage to do that, Jannik will be adding points at tournaments where he has no points to defend.”
Contrastingly, Sinner has only 1,950 points to defend beyond Monte-Carlo and faces no pressure until the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome in mid-May. Thus, if the Italian can seize the chance to dethrone Alcaraz and capture his first Monte-Carlo title, he may solidify his standing at the top, albeit with just a 110-point lead over the Spaniard.
Potential Points for Alcaraz & Sinner Post-Monte-Carlo Final
| Outcome | Alcaraz | Sinner |
| Alcaraz Triumphs | 13,590 | 13,000 |
| Sinner Triumphs | 13,240 | 13,350 |
No matter who walks away as the champion at the Monte-Carlo Country Club, the leadership of Alcaraz and Sinner in the PIF ATP Rankings appears firmly in place. Together, they have held the top positions since Novak Djokovic achieved a record 428 weeks as No. 1 on June 9, 2024. At just 22 and 24 years old, respectively, Alcaraz and Sinner are forging their legacy as an unstoppable force poised to dominate the sport for years to come.
