Today, the ATP unveiled the 2025 year-end PIF ATP Rankings on ATPTour.com, highlighting Carlos Alcaraz as the ATP Year-End No. 1 presented by PIF.
The Spanish star engaged in an exhilarating contest with Jannik Sinner for the top position throughout the year, ultimately claiming his second year-end No. 1 title (the first being in 2022).
At just 22, Alcaraz has held the World No. 1 ranking for an impressive 46 weeks, surpassing 15 other illustrious members of the ATP No. 1 Club. He regained the top spot from Sinner post his US Open victory and has largely maintained it since.
Alcaraz stands as only the second active player to secure multiple year-end No. 1 finishes, joining the legendary Novak Djokovic (8). Throughout the season, the Murcia native collected an exceptional eight titles, marking his most successful year yet.
With remarkable consistency, Alcaraz reached nine consecutive finals. He triumphed at two Grand Slams (Roland Garros and US Open), three ATP Masters 1000 events (Monte-Carlo, Rome, and Cincinnati), alongside three ATP 500 tournaments (Rotterdam, Queen’s Club, and Tokyo).
Sinner held the top position from the Monday after the 2024 Roland Garros until the Monday following the 2025 US Open, amassing a total of 66 weeks as No. 1. The pair, Alcaraz and Sinner, were the only players to hold the World No. 1 position this season.
While the year-end No. 1 title was still up for grabs in Turin, Alcaraz swept through his three round-robin matches to secure the coveted ranking. In their six encounters this season, Alcaraz emerged victorious four times, while Sinner claimed the title at the Nitto ATP Finals, marking his second consecutive win at this prestigious event.
Novak Djokovic concluded his year in the top 5 for the 17th time, breaking the tie with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the most year-end top finishes in PIF ATP Rankings history. Ending 2025 as World No. 4, Djokovic celebrated his 100th tour-level title in Geneva and added his 101st in Athens. Only Jimmy Connors (109) and Roger Federer (103) own more singles titles in the Open Era.
Besides Alcaraz and Sinner, Alexander Zverev also featured in the year-end Top 5 in 2024. Notably, three players broke into the year-end Top 10 for the first time: Lorenzo Musetti, Ben Shelton, and Jack Draper. Each of these players reached a career-high ranking of No. 6 or better in 2025.
The year-end Top 10 includes two Italians (Sinner and Musetti) and two Americans (Taylor Fritz and Shelton). This marks just the second instance of having two Italians in the same season since Matteo Berrettini and Sinner did so in 2021.
The year-end Top 10 also consists of two left-handed players: Shelton and Draper. This is the first occasion since 2010 that more than one lefty has ended a season in this elite group, joining Rafael Nadal and Fernando Verdasco. Both Shelton and Draper broke into the Top 5, alongside Nadal as the only lefties to achieve this in the 21st century.
