Felix Auger-Aliassime’s Wimbledon journey continues as he secures another round!

The talented No.3 seed from Montreal triumphed over Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a thrilling five-set showdown, finishing with scores of 7-6 (4), 6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-1, to book his place in the quarterfinals for the second time.

It was a rollercoaster match for the Canadian, who missed multiple match point chances in the final set, yet he showcased his superiority by racking up an impressive 66 winners, compared to Davidovich Fokina’s 45.

The Spaniard fought valiantly, coping with a heel injury that necessitated a medical timeout in the fourth set. Trailing two sets to one, Davidovich Fokina mounted an incredible comeback from 3-5, winning three consecutive games and clinching the set in a tiebreaker.

Auger-Aliassime’s powerful serve proved too challenging for Davidovich Fokina, delivering 27 aces while being broken only once throughout the match. The 25-year-old smoothly navigated the final set, finishing with two stunning cross-court winners in the last game.

In the upcoming quarterfinals, Auger-Aliassime will face off against tennis icon Novak Djokovic. Their previous encounters in 2022 were split 1-1, heightening the anticipation.

When informed of his matchup against the Serbian superstar during his post-match interview, Auger-Aliassime humorously quipped, “I’ll have to watch some film.”

Mark your calendars: that match is set for Tuesday.

In earlier mixed doubles action, Leylah Fernandez from Laval, Quebec, and Joe Salisbury from the U.K. triumphed over Ben Jones and Maia Lumsden from the U.K. with a scoreline of 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski also excelled alongside Evan King from the United States, securing a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 victory against Croatia’s Mate Pavic and Hungary’s Fanny Stollar.
