It appears Serena Williams is gearing up for a comeback alongside a talented Canadian player.
The 44-year-old tennis icon, as reported by multiple sources, is in talks to partner with up-and-coming Canadian star Victoria Mboko for the doubles event at the prestigious Queen’s Club tournament in London, scheduled from June 8-14.
This tournament serves as an important grass-court warm-up ahead of Wimbledon.
Williams, who boasts an impressive record of 23 Grand Slam singles titles, has not taken to the court since the 2022 U.S. Open. However, her return to the drug-testing pool last year has ignited hopes of her re-entry into competitive play.
Following her second-round victory at the French Open, Mboko was asked about the prospect of partnering with Williams.
“I believe it’s important to let this moment be hers,” Mboko commented, according to AFP.
“If she feels ready to return on her own terms, it’s solely up to her to make that announcement.
“Beyond that, I don’t have much to add. The timing of her comeback is entirely in her hands. Yes, it’s all about her readiness.”
