ROME — Unfortunately, Lorenzo Musetti will miss the upcoming French Open due to a thigh injury.

Ranked 10th, Musetti, who reached the semifinals in Paris last year, shared this disappointing news on Wednesday—just a day after suffering a 6-3, 6-1 defeat to Casper Ruud at the Italian Open, where he required treatment for his left thigh.

“Following yesterday’s match, I had medical evaluations which indicated a rectus femoris injury, necessitating several weeks of rest and recovery,” the Italian star announced on Instagram. “Regrettably, this means I won’t be able to participate in Hamburg and Roland Garros—news that hits hard.

“A heartfelt thank you to the Rome crowd for your tremendous support: that’s exactly why, even while not at my best, I chose to fight on court and give it my all in my home tournament. I’ll keep you all posted.”

Musetti had to withdraw from his semifinal match at Roland Garros last year due to a leg injury, falling to Carlos Alcaraz with scores of 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0, 2-0.

He achieved a memorable victory over Alcaraz in the 2022 Hamburg final, marking his first tour-level crown.
