Sinner’s Incredible Masters 1000 Winning Streak
Sinner is on an impressive run, securing victories in his last 27 matches at the Masters 1000 level. His streak includes titles from Paris last year as well as victories in Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte-Carlo this year. Remarkably, across these 27 wins, he has dropped only two sets—one to Tomas Machac in Monte-Carlo and another during his initial set against Benjamin Bonzi in Madrid.

The Italian made headlines in March when he became the first player since Roger Federer in 2017 to win both Indian Wells and Miami in the same season, accomplishing the ‘Sunshine Double’ without losing a single set.

Sinner is now just two wins shy of matching Federer for the third-longest Masters 1000 streak, with Novak Djokovic holding the record of 30 and 31 consecutive wins.

Sinner’s Dominance Over Zverev
Though Zverev initially controlled the rivalry with Sinner, winning four of their first five encounters, the tables have turned significantly. Heading into Sunday, Sinner boasts an incredible eight-match winning streak against the German.

During this run, Sinner has dropped a mere three sets, with none lost in their past five matches. These victories predominantly occurred in the semi-finals of all four Masters 1000 tournaments this season, along with their matchup at the group stage of last year’s Nitto ATP Finals.

In their previous meeting in Monte-Carlo last month, Sinner flawlessly converted all four break points and did not face a single break point while serving, achieving a commanding 6-1, 6-4 victory. On clay, Sinner leads their rivalry 2-1, including a win at Roland Garros in their first encounter in 2020.

Zverev’s Madrid Legacy
Few players have the same comfort level in Madrid as Zverev. The German stars with a 30-6 record at this prestigious event, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, and has claimed the title twice, in 2018 and 2021. A victory on Sunday would elevate him to the ranks of only four men to have won three or more Madrid titles, alongside the record-holder Rafael Nadal (five) and other three-time champions Federer and Djokovic.

Following his straight-sets victory over Alexander Blockx on Friday, Zverev remains perfect in Madrid semi-finals with a remarkable 4-0 record. The World No. 3 also holds a 2-1 record in finals, with his only defeat occurring against Carlos Alcaraz in 2022.

Zverev holds an 8-3 record against Top 10 players in Madrid, which includes a notable win over then-World No. 2 Nadal during his journey to the title in 2021.

Zverev’s Masters 1000 Achievements on Clay
This will mark Zverev’s seventh Masters 1000 final on clay, tying him with Thomas Muster for the fourth-most since the series inception in 1990. Only the ATP No. 1 Club members—Nadal (33), Djokovic (19), and Federer (16)—have more finals to their names.

Four of Zverev’s seven Masters 1000 trophies were earned on clay: Rome in 2017 and 2024, and Madrid in 2018 and 2021. He also reached the final in Rome in 2018 and the Madrid final in 2022.
