MUNICH — Ben Shelton triumphed over last year’s heartbreak by claiming victory against Flavio Cobolli with a score of 6-2, 7-5 at the Munich Open on Sunday.

After a tough loss to Alexander Zverev in the 2025 final, Shelton was determined not to repeat that fate at this prestigious ATP 500 tournament.

The 23-year-old prodigy from Atlanta showcased his skills by firing off four aces and successfully defending against all six break points, while also converting three of his own in a match that lasted just 90 minutes.

This marks the sixth-ranked American’s fifth career title and his second triumph on clay.
