Fernandez, Stollar Out in Stuttgart Doubles Quarterfinals

In a gripping quarterfinal showdown at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, Canada’s Leylah Fernandez and Hungary’s Fanny Stollar faced off against the formidable fourth seeds, Nicole Melichar-Martinez from the USA and Liudmila Samsonova from Russia. Despite their valiant effort, the duo fell short with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.

Though they struggled with four double faults, the victorious team showcased their skill by clinching 76.4% of total service points, while Fernandez and Stollar managed 65.1%.

Both teams displayed impressive power, each nailing four aces and successfully converting one break point throughout the match.

This event marked the inaugural partnership for Fernandez and Stollar at the WTA 500 clay-court tournament.

Fernandez, hailing from Laval, Quebec, continues to compete fiercely in singles.

On Thursday, she is set to take on Turkey’s Zeynep Sonmez in the second round.
