MONTE CARLO — In a gripping showdown at the Monte-Carlo Masters, Montreal’s Félix Auger-Aliassime saw his journey cut short in the quarterfinals, succumbing to the formidable second seed Jannik Sinner with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

Seeded sixth, Auger-Aliassime found himself broken once in each set during the intense 92-minute contest on the clay surface.

Struggling in second-serve scenarios, Auger-Aliassime secured only 47 percent of those points, while Sinner excelled at 71 percent, widening his edge to 5-2 in their head-to-head matchups.

Interestingly, both competitors registered 23 unforced errors, highlighting the fiercely contested nature of the match.

With this victory, Sinner marked an impressive 20-match winning streak at the ATP Masters 1000 level, joining the elite ranks of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic.

Looking forward, Sinner is set to clash with third-seeded Alexander Zverev in the semifinals on Saturday.
