By ATP Staff
Rafael Jodar and Martin Landaluce are off to a stellar start in the Next Gen Race.
The talented Spanish duo, who featured in the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah last December, are eager to return in 2026. Jodar is currently leading the Live Race, propelled by his progress to the third round of the Miami Open presented by Itau last week.
This 19-year-old prodigy, having clinched three ATP Challenger titles in 2025, successfully navigated through qualifying rounds, defeating both Yannick Hanfmann and Aleksandar Vukic before facing Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Landaluce’s journey in Florida was nothing short of remarkable. Entering Miami without any tour-level wins in 2026, the 20-year-old achieved four straight victories in the main draw, including three against Top 50 players. As the World No. 151, Landaluce became the lowest-ranked quarter-finalist since Jim Grabb, who was ranked No. 185 in 1994, and the first player born in 2006 or later to reach the last eight at a Masters 1000 event.
His stellar performance has propelled him ten spots to second in the Live Race, bringing him closer to breaking into the Top 100 of the PIF ATP Rankings.
Joao Fonseca, Moise Kouame, and Rei Sakamoto also secured notable victories at the ATP Masters 1000 event, marking the first time since Miami in 2007 that five teenagers have collectively made it to the second round at this level.
Fonseca triumphed over Fabian Marozsan before being edged out by Carlos Alcaraz, while Kouame marked his Masters 1000 debut with a win against Zachary Svajda. Sakamoto overcame Aleksandar Kovacevic but was ultimately knocked out by Daniil Medvedev in a gripping three-set match.
