In exciting news announced on social media, French tennis stars Gael Monfils and Moise Kouame have been granted wild cards for the upcoming Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.
While 39-year-old Monfils is preparing for his final appearance at this illustrious clay-court event, 17-year-old Kouame is gearing up for his much-anticipated debut. Monfils, a seasoned player who will retire in 2026, previously reached the final in Monaco back in 2016, where he faced off against legendary Rafael Nadal, who holds the record with 11 titles.
The #NextGenATP star, Kouame, made headlines earlier this month by claiming his first tour-level victory at the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami. His remarkable performance at the ATP 250 event in Montpellier also saw him become the sixth-youngest player to qualify for an ATP Tour tournament since 2000. Currently ranked No. 325 in the PIF ATP Live Rankings, Kouame is the youngest player in the Top 500.
Recently, Stan Wawrinka and Matteo Berrettini were also awarded wild cards for the upcoming Masters 1000. This year’s tournament promises to be thrilling, taking place from April 5-12, as Carlos Alcaraz returns as the defending champion.
