Jiri Lehecka delivered a stunning semi-final performance to carve his place in history at the Miami Open presented by Itau.

The 21st-seeded Czech star cruised to a commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory over Arthur Fils at Hard Rock Stadium, advancing to his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 final. Lehecka, a two-time ATP Tour champion, remained unchallenged, not facing a single break point as he prepared to take on Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev for the title.

Lehecka’s celebration at match point was a stark contrast to his last Masters 1000 semi-final, where he had to retire early due to injury. Nearly two years later, he stands strong in Miami, having not lost serve throughout the tournament.

“It feels incredible,” Lehecka expressed about his recent form. “I’ve been aiming for this all season long. My trust in my game has been rewarded, and I executed it beautifully today.”

With this impressive 75-minute performance, Lehecka exacted revenge for his previous loss to Fils in Doha and evened their head-to-head at 2-2. Looking at the rankings, Lehecka is on track to improve from No. 16 to No. 14, with a potential rise to No. 12 if he lifts the trophy in South Florida.

“I’m thrilled to be in the final; it’s been a significant goal for me,” Lehecka added. “Yet, I realize that sport is just one aspect of life, reminding myself of the bigger picture out there. I’m focused on enjoying every moment on this court.”

Lehecka capitalized on a sluggish start from Fils, breaking serve in the first game and setting the tone early. He dominated the match, securing a second break en route to a swift first set victory.

The second set saw similar dominance from Lehecka, who won six of the last seven games, converting four out of ten break points according to Infosys ATP Stats.

Fils faced frustration against Lehecka’s formidable performance, struggling to find his rhythm in his Masters 1000 semi-final debut. The toll of his previous marathon match against Tommy Paul was evident, where he had saved four match points to win.

Lehecka now becomes the eighth Czech player ever to reach a Masters 1000 final, aiming to replicate the success of Jakub Mensik, who triumphed in Miami last year against Novak Djokovic.
