Leading the charge for Canada in the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup qualifiers is tenth-seeded Victoria Mboko, set to compete next month in Kazakhstan.
According to Tennis Canada, Mboko from Burlington, Ontario, will team up with fellow Canadians: Bianca Andreescu of Mississauga, Gabriela Dabrowski from Ottawa, Marina Stakusic, also of Mississauga, and Kayla Cross from London, Ontario.
The excitement will unfold on April 10 at the Beeline Arena in Astana, where the teams will battle it out on indoor clay courts in a thrilling best-of-five tie.
The victorious team will earn a spot in the 2026 Finals slated for September, while the team that comes up short will head to the playoffs in November.
Taking the helm as interim captain for Canada is Marie-Eve Pelletier, stepping in as the regular captain, Heidi El Tabakh, is unavailable for personal reasons.
As the showdown approaches, Canada stands strong at fourth in the tournament’s nation rankings, with Kazakhstan holding the ninth position.
