With an aura of poise and self-assurance, Learner Tien reflects on an impressive breakthrough season that has captivated fans across the ATP Tour.
At just 19 years of age, this talented American athlete made a striking entrance into the title match at the 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals presented by PIF. Now, he returns to the 20-and-under showdown in 2025 as a standout player to watch. His remarkable year was filled with significant achievements, including clinching his first ATP 250 title in Metz, establishing him as one of tennis’ most promising up-and-comers.
In this inaugural episode of the Journey to Jeddah series, Tien reflects on his earliest court memories, shares insights from his debut year on the tour, and discusses the importance of camaraderie among peers amidst the pressures of competition.
“I believe all young players uplift each other. It’s comforting to see familiar faces in unfamiliar places,” Tien explains. “Many of us are living similar lives… It’s reassuring to realize just how much we have in common.”
