BOLOGNA, Italy — In a thrilling semifinal showdown, Spain secured their spot in the Davis Cup final, thanks to the dynamic doubles duo of Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martínez, who triumphed over Germany’s Tim Pütz and Kevin Krawietz with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 on Saturday, clinching a 2-1 victory.

It was Alexander Zverev who kept Germany’s dreams alive, delivering a hard-fought 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5) win against Jaume Munar, following Pablo Carreño Busta’s successful opener against Jan-Lennard Struff.

Carreño Busta showcased incredible resilience, saving five consecutive set points in a tense tiebreak before defeating the German veteran 6-4, 7-6 (6).

Granollers and Martínez stunned Pütz and Krawietz, handing them only their second defeat in Davis Cup history.

This victory propelled the Spanish team, even in the absence of injured star Carlos Alcaraz, back to the finals for the first time in six years.

Spain is set to face off against the two-time defending champions, Italy, who bested Belgium in their semifinal match on Friday.
