Austrian star Dennis Novak has announced his retirement from professional tennis this week. The 32-year-old, who once peaked at No. 85 in 2020, opened up about his decision via Instagram.
“Hello everyone, I want to share that my professional career has officially come to a close,” wrote Novak. “Reaching No. 85 worldwide, representing Austria in the Davis Cup 17 times, and competing in all the Grand Slam main draws has exceeded anything I could have imagined! 🙏”
Throughout his career, Novak achieved two quarter-final finishes at tour-level events and secured multiple victories against Top 20 players. His standout moment came during a remarkable third-round run at Wimbledon in 2018. As he looks toward the future, Novak’s retirement post radiates heartfelt gratitude.
“I want to thank my parents and family for always believing in my dream of becoming a professional tennis player and for their unwavering support throughout my life!!! ❤️🫶🏼,” he continued. “Many thanks to all my coaches over the years for your dedication and trust in me!”
