It feels like just yesterday, but exactly one year ago, on November 19, 2024, Rafael Nadal played his final professional match during the Davis Cup Final 8. This marked the conclusion of an extraordinary career that included 1,000 tour victories, 92 titles—22 of which were Grand Slams—and an impressive 209 weeks at the top of the PIF ATP Rankings.
On the anniversary of his retirement, the Spanish icon returned to the tennis court at the Rafa Nadal Academy, participating in a practice session with Alexandra Eala, currently ranked No. 50 in the WTA.
“It felt amazing to be back on the court after a year! Practicing with you, Alex, was great. I’ll come back stronger next time,” Nadal shared on social media.
Nadal remains incredibly active at his academy and closely monitors the advancement of talented players, including the remarkable 19-year-old Filipina who has surged from No. 143 to the Top 50 this year.
This training session serves as a testament to Nadal’s enduring connection with players at the Academy, embodying his dedication to excellence, comprehensive learning, and instilling the values that defined his illustrious career.
